'I started my diet in September 2009 because I’d piled on so much weight after Abi (now 2) was born. I found myself eating for the sake of eating. I’d get out of breath walking Ella, who’s 4, to nursery and it’s only a short walk up the road.
I found I had no energy either and I realised I had to do something about it. I lacked confidence, I didn’t want to dress up because nothing fitted and something just clicked one day. I thought, ‘I don’t want to feel like this anymore’.
“When I reached 13st 10, it was the heaviest I’d ever been. I was having to spend a lot more on clothes too, because it was so hard to find things to fit me which looked good. I do have an underactive thyroid problem, which makes it harder to lose weight, but once I started the diet I also upped my exercise which helped. I started walking as much as possible. At that point, I would have broken out in a sweat just thinking about it going to an exercise class, I was too embarrassed.
I was really inspired by the success stories on the Closerdiets.com website and I really liked the idea that I would get immediate feedback from other members on the site and from the nutritionists on the Closerdiets.com team.
With my tailor-made diet plan, I’d go to the Closerdiets.com website and be given my food plan for the week, which meant I could plan all my meals. Anything I didn’t like I could swap for something else. And even when I had a bad week and didn’t lose any weight (or put it on!) I’d get a really encouraging email from the team which would be so motivating and helpful. They’d say, ‘stick with it!’
I feel so much better and more confident. I got on a plane by myself to come to this photo shoot and it’s something I never would have had the confidence to do before, I feel great!
