“When I saw pictures of myself at a friend’s wedding in 2009 looking ‘lumpier and bumpier’ in my gorgeous dress than I had thought I did, I decided I wanted to lose weight. I wanted to wear the same dress at another wedding later that year and look as lovely as I thought I did when I wore it first time round.

After losing my puppy fat as a teenager, the weight very gradually crept back on in my twenties as I was polishing off the same huge portions as my rugby-playing partner of ten years, James, 31. I would snack on biscuits and chocolate during the day, and enjoy boozy dinners with my friends.

I started my Closer diet in May 2009, choosing the total wellbeing plan, which is based on high protein, moderate carbohydrate and low fat intakes and contains plenty of fruit and vegetables, so it’s ideal to keep hunger pangs at bay.

I found it very easy to stick to because I could log-on online every day from the comfort of my own home and tailor my meal plans – so I’d never have to eat something I didn’t fancy. One of my favourite recipes was a Beef and Mushroom stir-fry with sesame seeds. My man enjoyed the new recipes too – he unintentionally lost a stone and a half just by eating the same meals as me, going from 16st to 14.5st.

I reached my target weight of 9st 2 this March and have maintained my weight since – I’ve even gone a little below.

I feel so much more confident now and enjoy shopping for my new figure. Before I lost the weight, I tried to cover up but now I love buying fitted trendy outfits – I even go to Topshop!
