Magic's Verity loses with Closer Diets

Getting up for work everyday at 4am, it’s no surprise Magic 105.4 newsreader Verity Geere found it hard to maintain a healthy diet.

But now Verity, 32, who’s 5ft 7, reveals she’s lost an incredible 1 and a half stone in five months thanks to the Closerdiets.com Healthy Eating Plan. She’s gone from being a size 16 and weighing 13st in May, to an amazing 11st 7lbs and a size 12."

Verity, who was at her biggest a year ago, weighing 15st 4lbs and a size 20, tells Closer: "I get up early and often go to showbiz events in the evenings. I used to get home at 1am and go straight to bed – but now I’m doing more exercise than ever before!"

"I work out with my Virgin Active personal trainer, Dan Beckwith, once a week and do Zumba, legs, bums and tums and yoga – plus I try to hit the gym every other day.

"It’s all about eating less and doing more. But it’s hard to have muesli when you get up at 4am and crave a bacon sandwich!"

Verity says her weight loss has been an emotional journey. "I’ve always been ‘the big one’ in the school photo,” she says. “I come from a bigger family and, even though I wasn’t teased, I never liked the way I looked. With her busy schedule, Verity says she works hard to eat well. “I’m allowed 1,300 calories a day,” she says. “So I graze on healthy snacks, such as fruit, miso soup and muesli bars, rather than grabbing a Mars Bar from the canteen for a quick sugar hit.

And while she admits baring all for our bikini photo shoot was "daunting," Verity says it was also a career highlight. "I’ve always thought of myself as a face for radio," Verity laughs. "But I’m amazed how confident I feel. I’ve got a waist for the first time and I’ve still got my chest – despite dropping a size to a 32G! "Before, I’d hide away at showbiz parties. But at a recent event Holly Willoughby actually complimented me on my dress!

"My goal now is to be 10st 10lbs and in a bikini on the beach in Australia on Christmas Day!”

Verity presents Breakfast News with Neil Fox on Magic 105.4, weekdays from 5-9am. She works for Sky News Radio.
